On the occasion of the Holocaust Remembrance Day, the students of the 3c class (aged 13/14) of the IC Via Carotenuto, presented a series of posters and art works entitled: “United in Diversity against violence and racism”.
On 26 January 2015, the same students, in the presence of the headmaster, teachers and other school learners , planted an olive tree as a sign of their commitment to continue to remember those who suffered in the Holocaust and to say stop to war, violence and racism.
From 27 to 30 January, the exhibition was visited by students of our secondary school and by their younger colleagues of the primary. The exhibition consists of three sections: the Holocaust of the Jews; the Holocaust of the “social deviant” or anti-social; the discrimination against foreigners.
In each section, the students have analyzed and compared past and current events. The reading of the testimonies and of the historical documents aroused students’ emotions and spur them to create interesting art works concerning Holocaust. It was an intense emotional experience for everyone!
